Brotherhood Games

Once again at Coyote Point Park, Brotherhood Games entered its 26th year. Twelve chapters, from San Jose State to Chico State, participated in the day of relay races, football, tug-of-war, and skits. Though the weather seemed gloomy, spirits were high as brothers and pledges alike went head to head for the gold.

We started off strong, winning the canned food drive competition by a landslide. Estimating around 520 cans/instant ramen, we dominated the others by a good 200 cans. However, such was not the case in football, losing to Zeta Tau by a mere point. Tug of war was more successful; guys won one round but lost the next to Theta Chi.

The skit was the part of Brotherhood Games that we concentrated the most on. In almost a week and half, a group of pledges transformed from almost strangers to a united team, working together to perform a skit with four difficult dances. To help them, President Rebecca Tien created the script for the skit, with VP Social Ian Teraoka on the dance choreography, and Bro. Jimmy Yao with the audio compilation and music.

Although we didn't win, the bonds the pledges made with each other and the brothers proved more invaluable. Together, we became a closer chapter through the hard work and dedication of our officers, brothers, and pledges.

The new pledge class officially crossed over during WRI on April 16, 2011 along with the rest of the western region pledges from other chapters. We trust they had a very memorable experience with the Brothers as well as some alumni. Next year WRI will be at Santa Clara University and we are looking forward to it.

Congrats to the Tau Pledge Class!

After a strenuous ten weeks, the Tau pledge class has finally finished their pledge process. They attained the notable pledge class of excellence and surpassed our expectations. They surpassed their fundraising goal by over 50%! We are proud to finally call you our brothers and look forward to watching you grow during these coming years!
